Dr. Brimberry—who also leads Texas Cannabis Clinic—hosts monthly educational webinars on the Compassionate Use Program and how physicians can start prescribing medical cannabis
AUSTIN, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Texas Original Compassionate Cultivation (TXOG), Texas’ leading medical cannabis provider, in collaboration with Dr. Matthew Brimberry, a board-certified family medicine physician and head of Texas Cannabis Clinic, launched monthly physician education webinars for licensed medical professionals in Texas to learn about the Compassionate Use Program and medical cannabis’s proven efficacy in relieving symptoms for qualified medical conditions.
Every month, TXOG’s director of strategic partnerships, Mike Thompson—a four-time cancer survivor—and Dr. Brimberry host dozens of physicians via Zoom to share information on how to easily register under the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT) and begin prescribing medical cannabis to qualifying Texans. Since launching the webinar program, TXOG and Dr. Brimberry have trained more than 250 medical professionals.
“I’m honored to collaborate with the TXOG team to educate my fellow physicians on how to join and prescribe through the Compassionate Use Registry,” said Dr. Brimberry. “Together, we are building a network of prescribing physicians committed to sharpening their knowledge of medical cannabis and its effects on the endocannabinoid system, symptom relief and patient care plans for thousands of Texans.”
An experienced physician offering palliative care to patients throughout Texas, Dr. Brimberry also sits on TXOG’s Medical Advisory Board. As the medical director for the Texas Cannabis Clinic, Dr. Brimberry leads a team of physicians registered under the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas to provide medical cannabis prescriptions exclusively via telehealth appointments. To date, Dr. Brimberry and his team have served more than 1,800 Texans with personalized medical cannabis treatment plans.
“I want every qualifying patient in Texas to know there is an accessible, safe, legal and effective medical cannabis program in our state,” Dr. Brimberry added. “Even if your primary care physician or specialist is not currently registered to prescribe medical cannabis, there are easy ways for patients to access a prescription. At Texas Cannabis Clinic, we serve as the conduit between patients and the dispensary, making it easy to speak with a prescribing physician online and discover how medical cannabis can be incorporated into your treatment plan.”
For more than a decade, Dr. Brimberry has helped patients navigate the symptoms of terminal cancer, ALS, muscle spasticity, and other severe life-limiting diseases. He became one of the first physicians certified to provide medical cannabis access to palliative care patients and has since collaborated with his team, TXOG and qualifying patients to evolve the public, state Legislature and medical community’s understanding and acceptance of medical cannabis. Dr. Brimberry also served as a consulting physician for TXOG’s recent PTSD focus group, analyzing and tracking how medical cannabis affected patients’ PTSD symptoms.
“Dr. Brimberry is one of the leading experts on medical cannabis in the state of Texas,” said Morris Denton, CEO of TXOG. “Not only is he dedicated to growing the Compassionate Use Registry, he is instrumental in educating our team and patients throughout Texas on the power of medical cannabis. Support from physicians like Dr. Brimberry and his team at Texas Cannabis Clinic is invaluable in generating critical awareness for and expanding the Compassionate Use Program in Texas.”
