Health Canada Expresses Concern Over Celebrity Affiliations With Cannabis Businesses

Health Canada contacted OrganiGram Holdings, Canada’s leading and licensed producer of medical and recreational cannabis, regarding their packaging and label designs based on the popular television series, Trailer Park Boys.

In response, OrganiGram responded that it would change the branding and logo after reviewing the issue with Health Canada. They stated, “In the immediate term, Organigram will move to a modified version of the logo. Longer term, the Corporation is exploring options for a permanent logo and brand name combination for its large-format value brand.”

Health Canada is keeping a close check on whether a cannabis business is not compliant with its promotion rules in labeling, packaging, and intended audience of a product. They also discourage such companies from celebrity partnerships and promotions on their products.
